Despite the rain pelting down the kids from Lorne Primary were in great voice yesterday at the launch of Leith Festival's "Christmas in Leith", and certainly got us in the festive spirit. They sang a selection of Christmas songs and had us all joining in - including audience participation for the 12 days of Christmas led by Head Teacher Mr Mclean and his fancy antlers (pictured).
There was an enthusiastic countdown before the Christmas lights were turned on at the tree at the Foot of the Walk (I'm pictured at the tree with Cllr Adam McVey).
Afterwards parents, pupils and guests escaped the weather for refreshments kindly provided by the Kirkgate Community Education Centre.
A personal highlight was when the kids sang 'Cicha Noc' the Polish version of Silent Night; it was a beautifully sung celebration of the vibrant and multicultural place that is Edinburgh North and Leith.
These events couldn't happen without community support and tireless workers like Rita Crombie (pictured) and the driving rain couldn't dampen the spirits of all who were there, even passers-by couldn't help but stay and sing along.
For those who missed it there are plenty opportunities to hear some more carol singing by local school kids, full details can be found at: www.leithfestival.com
